Caruso a high-flying T-Bird
In rapid-fire fashion, second-year forward Matt Caruso has taken over the scoring lead for the Soo Thunderbirds of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League.
Over the Thunderbirds last five games, Caruso has scored 10 goals and added six assists in a 16-point explosion that has ignited the top team in the 12-member NOJHL.
For the season, Caruso has 18 goals, 21 assists, 39 points for a Thunderbirds team that has a record of 29-3-0 with the NOJHL now on the Christmas holiday break.
Hoping to prove that size does not matter, the 1997 birth-year speedster, who stands in at 5-foot-9, 160 pounds, aspires to eventually play at the Division 1, National Collegiate Athletic Association level.
I hate to rain on the parade, but I’ve seen several games and he didn’t impress all that much. The real strength of the Soo is their mobile defence and balanced attack. Still, always good to profile a player.
Espofan2,
Can’t argue with the stats. And the stats are the basis of this item.
Go Matt Go! Excellent work ethic!
espofan, you have rained on the parade. Here is a kid who works his butt off every game and instead of acknowledging his accomplishments as this article does , you find it fitting to degrade him. I bet the espanola team would be happy to have a kid like caruso on their team. kudos to randy russon for paying a little tribute to this great kid.
