Cochrane deals top scorer
High-scoring forward Hunter Atchison, who amassed 56 goals, 52 assists, 108 points in 62 games, regular season and playoffs included, for the Cochrane Crunch of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League in 2015-2016, has been traded.
At his request, Atchison has been dealt to the Cobourg Cougars of the Ontario Jr. Hockey League in exchange for forward Rory Milne. Milne scored eight goals and had 31 points in 52 games as a rookie in the OJHL in 2015-2016.
Cobourg will play host to the RBC Cup national tournament next spring.
Besides getting a player who is a year younger — Milne was born in 1997 and Atchison has a 1996 birth date — Cochrane receives cash considerations in the exchange, Crunch coach-general manager Ryan Leonard told HockeyNewsNorth.com.
Cobourg Cougars stocking up on talent for the RBC Cup. I can imagine, the Cochrane Crunch are gonna make it to the DHC in Trenton, and the RBC in Cobourg, The Soo Thunderbirds have exhausted their talent already, and Cochrane is gonna be stronger.
From one great organization to another. There is no doubt that the Cougars are gearing up to make a massive run to the RBC. The Crunch will be fine. I have come to just accept the fact that they know what they’re doing up there in Cochrane. They’ve got the right people up there and continuously do a fantastic job. Atchison will have some adjusting to do. The NOJHL and OJHL, in my eyes, are very different leagues. There will be some growing to do, but I feel he’s got what it takes to continue his form in the “OJ”. Good article here RR. Thanks.
