Crunch leads the bunch
Cochrane Crunch has created some separation among the lower level threesome in the East Division of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League.
The Crunch scored a clutch 5-3 victory over the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners on Thursday to add to its hold on fourth place in the East Division. Cochrane now has 11 points from a record of 5-13-1 , just ahead of fifth seed French River Rapids and last place Kirkland Lake. French River has eight points from a 4-14-0 record while Kirkland Lake has a 2-17-1 record and five points.
Tyler Rimstad sparked Cochrane to the 5-3 showdown win over Kirkland Lake with two goals and an assist. Yenry Jibb had a goal and an assist and slick defenseman Xavier Brooks dished out a pair of helpers.
The 17-year old Jibb has two goals, eight assists, 10 points in just seven games since being acquired by Cochrane from the Timmins Rock. And the 18-year old Brooks now has one goal, four assists, five points in five games since signing with Cochrane in late October.
