Cochrane product Kurtis David will be returning home to play for the Crunch of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League this 2015-2016 season, HockeyNewsNorth.com has confirmed.

David, a 5-foot 10, 160 pound goalie with a 1997 birth date, has spent the past two seasons with the Kapuskasing Flyers of the Great North Midget Hockey League.

In 18 games on a Kapuskasing team that finished last in the seven-team GNMHL in 2014-2015, David had a respectable 4.28 goals against average with one shutout.

Cochrane coach-general manager Ryan Leonard said David “got better and better” as the 2014-2015 season went on.

“He’s athletic and energetic and he’s putting in the work to get better,” Leonard said of David.

With 1995 birth-year goalie Brett Young set to return to the Crunch for a second season in 2014-2015, the seasoned puckstopper “can be a great mentor” to David, Leonard noted.
