Cubs help infant food bank
Sudbury Cubs of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League will be out to try to win their ninth straight game on Thursday when they play host to the Iroquois Falls Storm in a 7:05 pm. match at Countryside Sports Complex. RBC will sponsor Thursday’s game by providing prizes to fans who bring a donation to the game in support of the Pregnancy Care Centre and Infant Food Bank.
Cubs fans are asked to bring baby food, diapers or a cash donation to assist this valuable community organization that supports local mothers and families in need – especially at this time of year.
Santa and Mrs. Claus, along with the Lions Club, will be attending Thursday’s game as well to
help kick-off the upcoming CTV Lions Children’s Christmas Telethon with an official face-off. A
live band will greet fans as they enter the Countryside Sports Complex on Thursday night to
create a Christmas atmosphere in support of the Telethon which airs this Saturday from 2–11 p.m.
Prior the start of Thursday’s game, the Cubs will hold a moment of silence for Mrs Joan Burgess
who recently passed away. Mrs Burgess and her late husband Ken Burgess were instrumental in
owning and supporting minor and junior hockey in Greater Sudbury for 45 years.
