And it was first year head coach Jeremy Rebek — former long-time assistant coach with the Thunderbirds — and his Eagles who overwhelmed the visitors by out-shooting them 51-34 and out-scoring them by a 5-2 margin.

The victory for the surging Eagles of the Michigan Soo boosted their record to 8-4-1 while the Thunderbirds dropped to 7-6-1. The Eagles are 5-0-1 in their last six outings.

Cooper Fredericks paced the Eagles with three goals, giving him 12 on the season. Fredericks now has 24 goals in 42 games since joining the Eagles in a trade last December. Drew Dellies with his third and rookie forward Coulson Bell — a Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario product — rang up his first NOJHL goal to complete the scoring for the Eagles.

Jace Knoerle made 32 saves in the Eagles net, giving up two goals to Cooper Labelle of the Thunderbirds.

The game was the second of the ’24-25 regular season between the cross-border rivals. Back on September 14, the Thunderbirds upended the Eagles with a 4-3 home ice victory.
