Eagles extend playoff set
Two straight victories over the Rayside Balfour Canadians have extended the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League playoff season for the Soo Eagles.
The Eagles scored a pair of wins over the Canadians on the weekend, a 7-4 home-ice victory in Game 4 and a 3-2 overtime, road triumph in Game 5.
Rayside Balfour now leads the best-of-seven, West Division semi-final three games to two. Game 6 is slated for Tuesday night at 7:00 at Pullar Stadium in the Michigan Soo.
In the other West Division semi-final, the Soo Thunderbirds hold a three games to two lead on the Blind River Beavers. Game 6 goes Tuesday night at 7:00 at Blind River Community Centre.
In the East Division, Powassan Voodoos have eliminated the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners four games to two.
And the Hearst Lumberjacks took a must-win, 5-3 decision from the Timmins Rock on Sunday. The win for the Lumberjacks sets up a Game 6 tonight at 7:00 at McIntyre Arena in Timmins.
