Elliot Lake chasing Espanola
It is not quite yet the midway point of the 2021-2022 regular season but there is a potential chase in the making for the fifth and final playoff spot in the West Division of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League.
Sixth seed Elliot Lake Red Wings have managed to move within four points of the fifth place Espanola Express.
Elliot Lake has 12 points from a record of 6-20-0 while Espanola has 16 points from a mark of 7-13-2. And while the Express is 0-6-1 over its past seven games, it is worth noting that Espanola has four games in hand on Elliot Lake.
Still, it may be a race worth watching as the NOJHL regular season extends, one in which all teams are slated to play 56 games.
