Devin Shoreman is moving from the last place team in the West Division of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League to the first place club.

Sudbury Cubs have acquired the 19-year old defenseman from the Elliot Lake Red Wings in a cash transaction. The 6-foot-2, 180 pound Shoreman netted one goal, 17 assists, 18 points in 27 games with Elliot Lake this season. He played in 46 games for Elliot Lake in 2021-2022 and had four goals, 12 assists, 16 points.

“We are very excited to add Devin to our roster as he adds more depth to our blue line and he can play in all situations,” noted Sudbury general manager Dave Clancy. “We’ve had our eye on Devin since the beginning of the season and he has shown consistent improvement in his offensive numbers and his defensive play.”

As the Cubs are happy to have Shoreman, so too is the Barrie native pumped to be in Sudbury.

“It is thrilling for me to join the top ranked team in the NOJHL and I look forward to helping the Cubs win a championship this season,” relayed Shoreman. “The Cubs have one of the best coaching staffs in the league and their management does a great job of promoting their players to higher levels and that makes this opportunity so exciting for the team as well as for my own career aspirations.”
