Eskis on ice in heat of summer

There was ice in New Liskeard on a hot, humid weekend as Iroquois Falls Eskis of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League held an evaluation camp.

Under the watchful eyes of new head coach Corey Bricknell and his hockey entourage, a gathering of signed players and hopefuls went through the paces at New Liskeard Arena.

Among those who caught the eyes of observers who were there with the purpose of evaluating were 1996 birth-year veterans Josh Dejulio and Kezmin Madden and 1996 birth-year rookie Dan Davies.

A defenceman, Dejulio showed the steady poise that he flashed as an NOJHL rookie in 2014-2015 while the trademark work ethic that makes Madden a candidate for regular duty as a forward in 2015-2016 was evident.

As for the rookie goalie Davies, formerly of the Dundas Blues of the Niagara District Jr. C Hockey League, his skills and technique were impressive as was the physical conditioning aspect of his game.

What you think about “Eskis on ice in heat of summer”

  1. Any word on Nicky Grose ? Are Abitibi able to keep him? Or did he follow the coach to Kingston? A serious 1-2dee on any blue line. Inquiring minds want to know.

And some ice cold 50 too!

    1. motleyrulez,

Grose was not at the Eskis camp in New Liskeard. Nor has he signed with them, at least not as of yet.

      P.S. 50 on ice today at 4 p.m.

      Regards,

      RR

  2. Kez can be a good 2 or 3 Line Player for us. He is one of our good local kids good family etc. I think he can score 15 goals maybe more. Josh can be a top D with good coaching. Both boys will benefit from good coaching . . . I hope Cory is the Coach who can bring out the best in all the boys not just our local boys. I think McKinlay may be helping out to? RR?

  3. Grose never played for the midgets but he did play sparingly for the Junior Trappers before they became the Blackhawks. He did a lot better when given his opportunity.

  4. Speaking of goalies is there any word if the big Texan Joe Sheppard is going to play for the Eskis? Thought he was good for the Blackhawks and hadn’t seen if Abitibi had been able to keep him.
