Evan Katic is a pure Rock star
He has grown four inches in the span of a couple of years. And as homegrown product Evan Katic of the Timmins Rock now stands tall at 6 feet, two inches, his game has also grown.
Katic, who has an October 31, 2008 birth date, is coming off of a ’25-26 season in which he produced 13 goals, 29 assists, 42 points in 64 games — playoffs included — as a rookie forward in the always-tough Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League. Thus far, in the early going of the ’26-27 season, Katic already has three goals, four assists, seven points in just two games.
Just a small sample, perhaps, but Katic has already impressed Timmins head coach Sheldon Reasbeck, who is in his first season as bench boss of the Rock after being brought in to replace Brandon Perry, who is now running the show with the Queen’s Golden Gaels of Ontario University Athletics.
“Evan is playing like he’s been in the league for four years,” Reasbeck relayed to Hockey News North. “His wall play and net front presence are second to none. Additionally, what is really great about him this year is that he is adding more finesse to his game. He is really turning into an all-around 200 foot, dominant player.
“Also, even as a young 2008 birth year player, he is assuming a big leadership role this year, one that he is more than ready for,” Reasbeck added, in further praise of Katic.
