Express puts brakes on skid

Espanola Express took to the road to get back on track. The Express halted a nine game losing streak today by scoring a 6-0 decision over the Cochrane Crunch.

The victory inched the Express to within three points of the Elliot Lake Red Wings for the fifth and final playoff spot in the West Division of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League. Espanola now has a record of 9-23-2 while Elliot Lake dropped to 11-27-1 with a loss to the Powassan Voodoos today.

The last time Espanola won a game was back on December 11 when the Express scored a 7-4 road decision over the Red Wings in Elliot Lake.

In today’s win over Cochrane, Yan Bessette paced the Express with two goals and an assist while 2005 birth year rookie Ty McHutchion scored his 20th goal of the season and Vaughn LeDrew made 29 saves for the shutout and his first NOJHL victory.
