A top goalie prospect of the Flint Firebirds of the Ontario Hockey League is slated to develop with the Timmins Rock of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League for the 2022-2023 season, Hockey News North has confirmed.

Jacob Brown, a 6-foot-1, 180 pound puck-stopper with a 2006 birth date, was taken by Flint in the fourth round, 80th overall, at the 2022 OHL priority selections draft. Brown tended twine for the under 16 Kingston Gaels in 2021-2022.

In signing with Timmins, Brown will join NOJHL veteran Patrick Boivin as the Rock goalies. Boivin was recently obtained by Timmins from the Blind River Beavers in an NOJHL trade.

Timmins general manager and coach Brandon Perry likes the potential of his new net minding tandem.

“We are excited to add a good young talent like Jacob,” Perry relayed to Hockey News North. “This gives us a very dynamic duo in net with a veteran like Patrick and a young stud in Jacob.”
