The new French River Rapids of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League have confirmed dates and location for their first-ever open tryout camp.

“We are looking for players interested in pursuing higher levels of hockey as a stepping stone,” French River coach-general manager Moe Mantha told HockeyNewsNorth.com.

“We are looking for established players as well as up-and-coming prospects,” Mantha added.

The French River open tryout will be held July 3-5 at Pete Palangio Arena in North Bay.

For camp details and any further information, contact Mantha via e-mail: mantharapids@gmail.com

A former Ontario Hockey League and National Hockey League defenceman of considerable note, the 54-year old Mantha has been coaching for 20 years.

His most recent stop was a five-year gig as coach-general manager of the erstwhile Michigan Warriors of the tier 2 junior North American Hockey League.

In his five seasons in the NAHL, Mantha coached the Warriors to two North Division championships and helped send 25 players to the National Collegiate Athletic Association ranks.

What you think about “French River Rapids open tryout”

  1. Hi Randy

I see lots of teams signing players has FR signed anyone or have any good prospects you have heard.

  2. Being an expansion team not surprising no signings’s as of yet. Seems like other teams are resigning veterans and a few loacals. I would think after Camp we will see some action from FR.
