French River seeks first win
They have been close more than once but the French River Rapids are still seeking their first win as a Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League expansion team.
The Rapids will try to win that elusive first game again tonight when they play host to the Iroquois Falls Eskis in a match slated to begin at 7:30 at Noelville Arena.
French River takes a record of 0-8 into the game while Iroquois Falls has a mark of 3-7.
Of French River’s eight losses to date, two have been by one goal and another has been a two-goal setback.
They have actually outshot their opponents in the first period of most of their games so far but still end up down a couple of goals after the first. Goaltending lets them down early and they can’t recover, 34 is decent but too small, 30 should be in house league and 29 disappeared. A couple of key acquisitions could help them to a 12 win season.
