Big right winger Ryan Erickson is poised to play out his junior career at home with the Rayside-Balfour Canadians of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League.

A 6-foot-2, 195-pound, 1995 birth-year skater who hails from Greater Sudbury, Erickson will be entering his fourth season of junior hockey with Rayside-Balfour this 2015-2016 season.

Known for his character and leadership, Erickson has spent the past three seasons in the Central Canada Hockey League with the Pembroke Lumber Kings and in the Ontario Jr. Hockey League with both the Hamilton Red Wings and Whitby Fury. He is a former Ontario Hockey League draft pick of the Niagara Ice Dogs.

Rayside head coach Jason Young said he is “extremely happy” that the Canadians were able to acquire Erickson in an off-season transaction.

“His leadership, skill set and enthusiasm for the game will surely rub off on our younger players,” Young told HockeyNewsNorth.com. “I look forward to watching our young team grow with Ryan as one of our leaders.”
