Here come the KL Gold Miners
The two teams that met for the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League championship last spring will face off on Saturday night when the Soo Thunderbirds play host to the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners.
Game time between the Thunderbirds and the reigning NOJHL champion Gold Miners is slated for 7:30 p.m. at John Rhodes Community Centre.
As of today, the Thunderbirds are first overall in the nine-team NOJHL with 59 points from a record of 27-4-5. The Gold Miners are just a point back with a record of 28-6-2.
Two veteran skaters have hit the 20-goal mark for the Soo — Nic Tassone and Jaren Bellini.
Kirkland Lake boasts three 20-goal scorers — Luc Soares, Connor Thie and Steve Babin.
Both teams are also in action tonight as the Soo is home to the Powassan Voodoos and Kirkland Lake is in Elliot Lake to play the Wildcats.
Miners have a real good goalie in Erikson. I will say that he’s the best goalie in the entire League.
If KL look past the Wildcats tonite they mite be in for a rude awaakening as Hewitt has the Wildcats playing some good shinny. Go Cats looking forward to tonites game. RR how about some coverage of the Wildcats old friend? Theres not much media covereage outside of Town and except for Bobby and the Moose.
My prediction is a 1-2 trip for the Miners. Babin out and a couple of pretty physical teams could be an issue for the less-physical Miners.
Peachy go Eliot lake to nite for oil change ahahahahahahahahahahaha
ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Good point’s HockEye . . . . . The Miners do not match up with E. Lake or the Zoo in the physical dept.
Should be a tough road trip for the miners as Elliot Lake and the Soo are two of the best in the league, so we will see what happens when leagues 3 best teams clash this weekend should be great hockey for the fans ! good luck to all teams involved !
Sayonara to the Greater Sudbury Royals what a poor excuse for a Franchise my oopinion of coarse.
