High-scoring Hepler back in EL
Elliot Lake Wildcats have welcomed the return of a high-scoring forward in time for tonight’s Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League game against the visiting Soo Thunderbirds.
1995 birth-year forward Cole Hepler is back in Elliot Lake after being obtained from the Markham Royals of the Ontario Jr. Hockey League, Wildcats general manager Todd Stencill told HockeyNewsNorth.com.
Regular season and playoffs included, Hepler scored 33 goals for Elliot Lake in 2014-2015.
Stencill also confirmed the Wildcats addition of 1997 birth-year forward Matt Colunga from the Detroit Compuware under-18 team.
Elliot Lake takes a record of 5-1-2 into tonight’s home game against the 9-1 Thunderbirds.
The Soo recently added a pair of veteran skaters to an already-strong lineup with the acquisition of 1995 birth-year defenceman Aiden Salerno and 1996 birth-year forward Branden Wagner from the Salmon Arm Silverbacks of the British Columbia Hockey League.
We will need it for tonight seeing as MacLean is suspended for the next two games. Bad judgement call on the refs part imo.
