Just call them the Big Three. Timmins Rock, Powassan Voodoos and Hearst Lumberjacks are in a frantic race for first place in the East Division of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League.

Indeed, just one point is all that separates Timmins, Powassan and Hearst as the three beasts of the NOJHL East.

Timmins has 36 points from a record of 17-3-2. Powassan also has 36 points from a record of 16-4-4 but the Voodoos have played two more games than the Rock. And right behind, with 35 points, Hearst has a record of 17-5-1 with the Lumberjacks holding a game in hand on Powassan and having played one more match than Timmins.

And none of the three teams are showing any signs of slowing down.

Over its past 10 games, Hearst has a record of 8-2-0 while both Timmins and Powassan have 7-2-1 marks during the same span.

  1. I’m wondering why MA Begin has not been on the bench the last couple of games for the lumberjacks has he been suspended?
