Finally, the Elliot Lake Red Wings have their first home ice victory at Centennial Arena. Matthew Shulist notched his first three Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League goals on Friday to propel the Red Wings to a 5-2 triumph over the Blind River Beavers.

The home ice win for Elliot Lake followed six straight losses on home ice for the new Red Wings franchise. And the win improved Elliot’s Lake’s record to 4-10-0 on the season, though the Red Wings remain in last place in the West Division of the NOJHL.

Nolan Chartrand made 27 saves to post the between the pipes win for Elliot Lake before a crowd of just over 200 at Centennial Arena.
