Horgan a Paper King howitzer
He is the highest scoring defenseman in the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League. As a matter of fact, Spencer Horgan of the Espanola Paper Kings is the top scoring defender throughout the entire Canadian Jr. A Hockey League.
Hailing from Bowmanville, Ontario and standing in at 6 feet, 170 pounds and with a 2005 birthdate, Horgan has done nothing but put up points since moving to Espanola and the NOJHL in 2022.
Over the course of the 2022-2023 season, playoffs included, Horgan had 17 goals, 33 assists, 50 points in 61 games. And he has been even more prolific through 16 games of the 2023-2024 season with nine goals, 23 assists, 32 points.
Paper Kings president and head coach Jason Rapcewicz admits to being at loss for words to truly describe what Horgan means to Espanola.
“I can’t say enough about him to be honest,” Rapcewicz relayed to Hockey News North. “He is a great kid and a natural leader, on and off the ice. He is driven, focused and passionate.”
Horgan is one of a number of key players brought in by Rapcewicz and Paper Kings general manager Marc Gagnon who are responsible for Espanola being one of five contenders for first place in what is a wild West Division of the NOJHL. The Paper Kings have a record of 11-5-0 through 16 games.
He IS a great kid. Perseverance, loyalty, all heart. Thanks to Jason and Marc for inviting him in to the Paper King fold.
