Huntsville to Powassan
Forward Andy Baker is moving forward from the Jr. C Huntsville Otters to the Powassan Voodoos of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League.
Powassan has inked the Port Carling, Ont. product to an NOJHL card following a 2015-2016 season in which he potted 29 goals, 33 assists, 62 points with Huntsville.
Baker, a 14th-round pick of the North Bay Battalion at the 2015 Ontario Hockey League draft, got into two NOJHL games with Powassan as an affiliate player last season and was impressive with two goals and four assists.
“We are looking forward to see what Andy can do this year,” said Voodoos head coach Scott Wray. “We had a small sample last season and he didn’t look out of place whatsoever.”
A season-ending wrist injury in his second game with the Voodoos cut short Baker’s fast start at the NOJHL level.
“We could have used him with his offensive capabilities,” added Wray. “The future is bright for this young man.”
