Jake Palmerio has a school offer
Lawrence University Vikings of the Division 3, Northern Collegiate Hockey Association have offered a future roster spot to Soo Eagles forward Jake Palmerio, HockeyNewsNorth.com has learned.
Lawrence, which is based in Appleton, Wisconsin, is a well-respected Division 3 hockey program. The Vikings are coached by Mike Szkodzinski, who is in his 10th season at Lawrence.
Szkodzinski and his staff have closed followed Palmerio over the course of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League season and were in Sault Ste. Marie to visit with him on Saturday night.
Palmerio has a 1997 birth date and still has two years of junior eligibility remaining after this season. He is expected to attract interest from other National Collegiate Athletic Association schools besides Lawrence.
In 40 games with the Eagles thus far this season, the 5-foot-10, 180-pound Palmerio has 10 goals, 5 assists, 15 points and has earned extensive praise from Michigan Soo co-coach/general manager Bruno Bragagnolo for his work ethic, dependability and all-around play.
“He is someone who we can count on to work hard and do his job every single shift,” Bragagnolo said of Palmerio. “He skates well, he works hard, he goes into the corners and he doesn’t back down.
“Jake has been a very dependable player for us,” Bragagnolo added. “As a coach, you never worry about Jake showing up to play.”
A Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. product, Palmerio is the only Canadian player on the Eagles roster.

It is well deserrved for Palmario who is what I call an unsung hero for the Eagles. Coach Bruno describes Palmario perfectly. The Eagles need more players like this. I am not at all suprised that the Schools are showing an interest in the Eagles # 17.
This is An example of Another player that as a coach that Jim Capy is developing for U.S. College Hockey. Cap has definatly made his mark on the Eagles and Jacob Palmerio is a perfect examplae of Jimmy’s strength’s as a Coach.
Good for you Jake!!!
Hard work does pay off!!!
Too bad you are not playing for the Birds then I could cheer for you more L.O.L.
What a Flashback this is! …. Coach Jim Capy has a history of moving his Players on to the N.C.A.A. I remember him for the old Sault Hawks days. Many years ago.
Its nice to see that he is still coaching Hockey.
Should this not be about Palmario? Seriusly what does Jim Capy have to do with this?? Come on, RR wrote this Article about Palmario and not aboout Jim Capy pls correct me if I am wrong.
To American Eagle: “RELAX”!!!!
It never gets old talking about this kid..I said it before & now people will see he is the real deal..The first of many offers I’m sure for Jake. He stuck to his game plan, played well & is now getting recognized & rewarded..Good thing he didn’t go the route of the OHL like a few other 97’s…It didn’t work out so well for them!
AE good point. Plus what has Capy done for Palmerio? The kid gets no PP time and sporadic PK time. This kid plays every shift like its his last, thats what got him noticed. He’s fast, fearless of the corners, takes a pounding in front of the net and like RR has said he has a decent scoring touch. He would have more goals if he had more opportunities to do so. I met the kid a couple of times at different Eagles functions and he’s very respectful and very mannerly, just a good kid. How does Lawerence University 6 hours away find and commit to a player when the TBirds , his hometown team didn’t sign him, which I will say thank you for not doing so because we got him and our backyard university Lake State hasn’t taken notice?? Coach Damon wake up and break tradition of letting local gets get away!!! You want fans in the stands? Then you need more local kids like Jake on your team, I’m sure our Canadian friends north of the border would come to watch him like they do that Headrick kid and after researching, I found out that Headrick and Palmerio grew up playing together through the years. I’m sure Lawerence University isn’t too happy that you spilled the beans here RR on their commitment to Palmerio, blood has been spilled and more wolves will be coming and sniffing now I bet. Good job Jake been a pleasure watching you all year and I hope you do well in the playoffs.
A class act going to a classy college. Congratulations Jake and continued success now and in your future. Good job by Jim & Bruno promoting their players. There is a lot more than what you see on the ice to the promotion process.
Good for you Jake .. here here !!!!!
