King of the Beavers
Blind River Beavers of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League have added a four-year veteran of the Ontario Hockey League to their coaching staff.
Dylan King, who patrolled the blueline for the OHL Soo Greyhounds from 2007-2011, will be an assistant in Blind River under new head coach Kyle Brick.
The 25-year old King also played in the NOJHL for the Soo Thunderbirds.
Brick, as Beavers bench boss, touched on what King will bring to the Beavers, who missed the playoffs and finished 11th overall in the 12-team NOJHL during the 2015-2016 campaign.
“Dylan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our hockey club, he is a born leader who demands respect,” Brick told HockeyNewsNorth.com. “I am excited to work with Dylan as we get started on rebuilding this hockey program.”
Both King and Brick hail from the gritty hockey town of Thessalon, which is located between Blind River and Sault Ste. Marie along Highway 17.
Great to have Dylan on board, he comes from a very sports minded family.
Jim King is the matriarch of the King gang, many of us older folks have been involved in hockey/ball with or against him.
Good luck to the Beavers this year with the Kyle and his staff and the new Beaver board.
They all seem eager to get things going and on the positive side.
I remember when Dylan played defence for the TBirds against the Beavers and
he was a solid player. His time in the NOJHL, OHL and other areas makes him a
great asset to the upcoming Beavers team. This just might be what is needed to turn
things around. The King family is well known in the area for being part of the sport
scene.
