Coach-general manager Kyle Smart is returning to the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League for the 2021-2022 season.

Smart first joined the Gold Miners late in the 2019-2020 season and was at the helm for the few games that Kirkland Lake was able to get in during the abbreviated 2020-2021 campaign.

“We feel very positive that Kyle will continue to provide us with the excellent leadership and recruiting that he brought to the Gold Miners first as an interim head coach and then as well during the COVID-shortened 2020-2021 campaign,” relayed Gold Miners director of hockey operations Derek Callahan.

“We look forward to seeing Kyle work on a daily basis with both new recruits and a solid nucleus of returning players to put together a highly competitive and motivated team for the 2021-2022 season,” Callahan added.
