Majors to the Rock
Travis Poan is staying home. The homegrown hombre has signed with the Timmins Rock of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League after starring for the Great North Under 18 Hockey League champion Timmins Majors in 2023-2024.
With good size at 6 foot 2, 180 pounds, the 2006 birth year forward netted 26 goals, 11 assists, 37 points in 34 regular season games for the U18 Majors in ’23-24. Poan then potted one goal, four assists, five points in six playoff matches as the Majors skated to the GNU18HL title.
Ted Gooch, who is the president of the Rock, noted the significant signing of Poan by the NOJHL team.
“As the president of our hockey team, I couldn’t be more proud to announce the signing of Travis Poan, a talented and dedicated local player,” Gooch relayed to Hockey News North. “This is a testament to our commitment to nurturing homegrown talent. We are thrilled to welcome Travis to our team and look forward to seeing the incredible impact he will undoubtedly make both on and off the ice.”
Poan got into one NOJHL game with the Rock in ’23-24 and scored a goal.
