It was a nice return to the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League for Devin Mauro. The 18-year old Sault Ste. Marie product scored once and added an assist as the Espanola Paper Kings edged the French River Rapids by a 7-5 margin tonight.

Mauro recently joined the Paper Kings via assignment from the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League. The 5-foot-8, 155 pound Mauro, who is a 2004 birth year forward, had two goals, one assist, three points in 23 games in his OHL rookie season with Sudbury.

Mauro’s junior A rights were officially acquired by Espanola from the Markham Royals of the Ontario Jr. Hockey League earlier this week. He previously played in the NOJHL with the Blind River Beavers.

The Paper Kings, who have an affiliation with the OHL Wolves, are in a frantic race for fourth place with the Soo Eagles in the West Division of the NOJHL.
