In what would be a dramatic turn of events, Robert Mazzuca is poised to return as commissioner of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League.

The 53-year old Mazzuca, who became NOJHL commissioner in 2011, had initially agreed to return to his position for a fifth year at the league’s annual general meeting that was held in Sault Ste. Marie last month.

But shortly after the AGM concluded, Mazzuca abruptly resigned as commissioner and the league began a search to replace him.

Now, according to high-ranking sources within the NOJHL, Mazzuca has agreed to return as commissioner — pending a league vote and clarification of contract language that pertains to power structure and accountability.

The NOJHL recently formed an executive committee that includes Scott Marshall of the Timmins Rock, Jim Taylor of the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners and Todd Stencill of the Elliot Lake Wildcats.

What you think about “Mazzuca to return as commish”

  1. Good News he did a good job but there must be more to the storey as I am sure that RR knows the storey as he has been hinting ever since the man stepped down.

  2. Hopefully the executive board stick to what the owners and Gm want commissioner to do,go out and find corporate sponsor which would really help the Nojhl grow and the league get more noticed by scouts and Div 1 programs
