7 wins in last 8 games for RBC
Not only did the Powassan Voodoos lose for only the third time in 22 starts on Monday but the defeat was their second at the hands of the surging Rayside-Balfour Canadians.
Beginning to show that they are worthy of Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League contender status along with Soo Thunderbirds, Cochrane Crunch, Kirkland Lake Gold Miners, Elliot Lake Wildcats and the Voodoos, the Canadians out-scored Powassan 9-6 on Monday.
As the loss dropped Powassan’s record on the season to 19-3-0, the road victory boosted Rayside-Balfour’s mark to 15-8-0.
In fact, Rayside-Balfour has now won seven of its last eight games and two of the wins have come against Powassan while another victory was at the expense of the 20-2-0 Soo Thunderbirds.
The only loss for Rayside-Balfour in the last eight games has been to its nearby rivals from Powassan.
I was at the Voodoo,s v.s Canadians game last nite. if I had to describe it in a nutshell, I would say that it looked like a bunch of guys threw there sticks in the middle to pick teams, and all the better guys ended up on one team. The Canadians played a good road game. The Voodoo,s had a bit of a push in the third, but it was too little, too late. Cheers all!!!!
