Another player from the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League is moving up to the Division 3, National Collegiate Athletic Association level.

North Bay Trappers captain Ryan Demyen confirmed to HockeyNewsNorth.com on Tuesday that he has accepted a commitment from the Buffalo State Bengals, who are members of the SUNYAC.

The 5-foot-11, 180 pound left winger was a key contributor for the Trappers in 2013-2014 with 26 goals, 27 assists, 53 points in 52 games for North Bay, which is slated to relocate to Mattawa for the 2014-2015 NOJHL season.

The 1993 birth year forward is described as a power forward with a lethal shot. The Hubbard, Ohio product finished second in the NOJHL with 12 power play markers over the course of the 2013-2014 campaign.

“This offer from Buffalo State means a lot to me,” said Demyen.

“It means the hard work I have put in is paying off. My coaches and teammates made it possible and for that I am grateful,” he added.

Demyen also credited Dawstar Video Scouting Services for building a video profile that was noticed by NCAA scouts.

“Dawstar Video Scouting Services played a huge role in the offer,” stated Demyen.

“Without Dawstar I wouldn’t have gotten the recognition that I did.”
