Net gain for Soo T-Birds
Goalie Mario Culina, who backstopped the Soo Thunderbirds to the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League title in 2014-2015, has been reassigned to the reigning champions from the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League.
Culina, who has a 1997 birth date, signed with the Spitfires as a free agent before the start of the 2015-2016 OHL season. But he injured his knee shortly after signing and did not see any action with the Spitfires as one of four goalies on the Windsor roster.
With the Thunderbirds during the 2014-2015 season, Culina posted an NOJHL-best, 2.24 goals against average.
