New additions to French River
Jessy Landry has been a busy fellow in his new undertaking as president and general manager of the French River Rapids of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League.
Landry has confirmed a number of additions to French River as the Rapids prepare for their second season in the NOJHL in 2016-2017 after finishing in last place in the 12-team league in 2015-2016.
After acquiring high-end, 1996 birth-year goalie Al Rogers from the Elliot Lake Wildcats for defenseman Quinn Robelle a few weeks back, Landry has hit the trade market again.
HockeyNewsNorth.com has confirmed that French River has obtained 1997 birth-year defenseman Mitchell Kreis from the Woodstock Slammers of the Maritime Jr. Hockey League for forward Tyler McGregor.
Kreis has extensive junior experience that includes seven games over parts of two seasons with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League. He is the twin brother of Matthew Kreis, a forward who scored 17 goals for the Saginaw Spirit of the OHL in ’15-16.
Besides adding veterans Rogers and Kreis via the trade route, Landry has several incoming rookies set to suit up for French River in ’16-17.
The list of newcomers includes three Greater Sudbury Area products — 1999 birth-year winger Nick Chokan and a pair with 2000 birth dates, namely winger Christian Gaudreau and goalie Scott Adams.
Of note, the 6-foot-4, 200-pound Gaudreau was a ninth-round pick of the Sudbury Wolves at the 2016 OHL draft.
Great job Jessy. . Looking forward to next season.
Keep up the good job.
