As the Espanola Express has become the Espanola Paper Kings, the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League team also has a new general manager.

With the exit of Trevor Ritchie, who became the general manager in Espanola earlier this off season only to subsequently step down for personal reasons, the recently renamed Paper Kings have hired Marc Gagnon to be the GM and work alongside president and head coach Jason Rapcewicz. Ritchie is now listed as the Paper Kings assistant GM.

As for Gagnon, he joins the Paper Kings from the Huntsville Otters of the Provincial Jr. C Hockey League where he was the GM and coach since 2017. Before that, Gagnon was in the NOJHL with the Powasson Voodoos as an assistant coach during their 2016-2017 championship season.

Rapcewicz likes what Gagnon brings to the Paper Kings.

“Marc’s dedication, persistence and attention to detail will be greatly embraced by the entire Espanola organization,” said Rapcewicz. “I am truly looking forward to working with him.”

Any unattached players interested in joining the Paper Kings or looking to come out and attend Espanola’s upcoming training camp can contact Gagnon via paperkingshockey@outlook.com.

What you think about “New GM in Espanola”

  1. Is this the Marc Gagnon who played for the Chilliwack Chiefs? If so, I was bridesmaid for his parents Pierre and Linda. I tried to get a message to them when Marc was in Chilliwack, but that didn’t work.

Please pass on a message to him again. I am now in Calgary and have gone back to my maiden name: Janet Falconer. 403-400-5147. janetf58@gmail.com. I am also on Facebook. I would really appreciate talking to Pete and/or Linda. Thanks.
