New to the French River Rapids

Make that 11 players who have now signed with the French River Rapids of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League.

Five more players recently joined the ranks of the new French River entry that will debut in the NOJHL in 2015-2016, Rapids coach-general manager Moe Mantha told HockeyNewsNorth.com.

They are 1997 birth-year centre Tyler King, 1999 birth-year centre Caleb Rich, 1995 birth-year defenceman Jamie Restoule and 1997 birth-year defencemen Eric Paquette and Quinn Robelle.

King hails from Mindemoya, Rich is from North Bay, Restoule calls Dokis First Nation his home, Paquette is from Chelmsford and the American-born Robelle heads to French River all the way from Tampa, Florida.

Of note, Paquette is not be be confused with the Eric Paquette, a 1997 birth-year forward who has signed with the Rayside-Balfour Canadians of the NOJHL.

Meanwhile, Mantha reports that he has hired longtime Sturgeon Falls area youth coach Dennis Commanda as the Rapids associate coach.

  1. Lots of talk about the new team that is in town / many of the resident’s talking it up / nice to see Restoule will be playing for the Rapids.
