NOJHL conference call

Led by chairman of the board Scott Marshall, Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League governors are slated to hold a conference call tonight to vote on re-hiring Robert Mazzuca as commissioner.

As HockeyNewsNorth.com was first to report on Monday, Mazzuca has agreed to return as NOJHL commissioner — pending league vote and clarification of contract language that pertains to power structure and accountability.

The 53-year old Mazzuca, who became NOJHL commissioner in 2011, had initially agreed to return to his position for a fifth year at the league’s annual general meeting that was held in Sault Ste. Marie last month.

But shortly after the AGM concluded, Mazzuca abruptly resigned as commissioner and the league began a search to replace him.

Since then, Marshall — who is also president of the Timmins Rock of the NOJHL — has led a movement to mend fences and tonight’s vote could return Mazzuca to the commissioner’s office.
