Tonight’s and Saturday’s scheduled Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League games between the French River Rapids and the Espanola Express have been postponed, multiple sources have confirmed to Hockey News North.

The move by the NOJHL comes as a precautionary measure.

Both French River and Espanola are part of Public Health Sudbury Districts.

The postponement of the French River v. Espanola matches do not affect this weekend’s other scheduled games between the Blind River Beavers and Soo Thunderbirds.

Blind River and the Soo are both part of Algoma Public Health.

The postponements of the French River/Espanola games came about after it was confirmed that one individual from one of the teams had been in close contact with a person who had a positive initial result on a COVID-19 test.

Thus, NOJHL commissioner Rob Mazzuca made the decision to call off the two games between the Rapids and Express.

Of note, no member of either team has had a positive result in testing or is showing any symptoms.
