NOJHL playoffs continue
Second-round playoff action in the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League continues with three games slated for tonight.
In Blind River, the Beavers — who are out to win a playoff series for only the second time in a franchise history that began in 1999 — will look to take a 2-0 lead on the visiting Rayside-Balfour Canadians.
Two-time reigning champion Soo Thunderbirds will play host to the Soo Eagles with the visitors from the Michigan side of the St. Mary’s River holding a 1-0 series lead.
And Cochrane Crunch is home to the Timmins Rock. Cochrane leads the series 1-0.
In the NOJHL’s other-best-of-seven playoff, league champion Powassan Voodoos took a 1-0 series lead on Friday with a 5-1 win over the visiting Kirkland Lake Gold Miners.
