Neither of the clubs from northern Ontario will advance to the playoff round of the 10 team Centennial Cup national junior A hockey championship tournament that is being held in Estevan, Saskatchewan.

Both the Soo Thunderbirds of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League and Red Lake Miners of the Superior International Jr. Hockey League were officially eliminated on Monday with their third straight loss of the round robin segment of the national tournament. Both teams have one game remaining before heading home from Estevan.

For the Thunderbirds, their inability to score goals was a factor through the three losses. The Soo managed only two goals in the three games.

A bright spot for Red Lake, which also takes a record of 0-3 into its final outing of the national tournament, has been the play of forward Brady Harroun, who has three goals, two assists, five points. Harroun has figured in on five of Red Lake’s eight goals through three games.
