Ottawa via French River

Three years ago at this time Phillipe Daoust was finishing up his rookie season in the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League as a member of the French River Rapids.

Three years later, the 20-year old Daoust has signed a three-year contract with the National Hockey League’s Ottawa Senators.

Daoust played in 15 games for Ottawa’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Belleville Senators, this season, and had five points. He has also lit it up as an overage forward with the Saint John Sea Dogs of the Quebec Major Jr. Hockey League this season with 11 goals, 11 assists, 22 points in 17 games.

Daoust was originally selected by Ottawa in the sixth round of the 2020 NHL Draft from the Moncton Wildcats of the QMJHL.

While in the NOJHL with French River during the 2018-2019 campaign, the 6-foot, 170-pound Daoust had 20 goals, 39 assists, 59 points.
