Espanola Paper Kings — formerly the Espanola Express — have stayed in the neighbourhood to acquire an experienced goalie ahead of the 2022-2023 Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League season.

Paper Kings general manager Marc Gagnon has confirmed the acquisition of 2003 birth year net minder Jake Marois from NOJHL rival Sudbury Cubs in a cash deal. The 6 foot, 190 pound Marois, who is a Sudbury product, posted a 7-5-0 record with a 3.25 goals against average and .886 save percentage in 2021-2022 as the backup to since-graduated Cubs starter Joel Rainville.
