RBC banks on Bowen
Backed by the goal-tending of David Bowen, the Rayside Balfour Canadians have taken a two games to none lead on the Soo Eagles in a best-of-seven, Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League semi-final playoff series.
Bowen stopped 36 of 37 shots for a .985 save percentage and 0.50 goals against average as Rayside Balfour used home ice to take a pair of weekend games from the Michigan Soo by 2-1 and 1-0 scores.
Eagles goalie Shane Brancato has been almost as good as Bowen in giving up just three goals in two games.
Both Rayside Balfour and the Soo Thunderbirds have 2-0 leads in their respective West Division semis. As RBC has a 2-0 advantage on the Eagles, the T-Birds are up two on the Blind River Beavers.
In the East Division, Powassan Voodoos have a 2-0 lead on the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners while the Hearst Lumberjacks and Timmins Rock are tied at a game apiece.
