RBC halts five-game slide
Veteran forward Ryan Erickson scored once and assisted on four others and MacKenzie Savard stopped 28 shots as the Rayside-Balfour Canadians ended a five-game losing skid on Wednesday.
Playing on the road, Rayside-Balfour skated to a 6-1 victory over the expansion French River Rapids to even its Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League record at 5-5.
French River remains winless with a record of 0-8.
Erickson’s big outing boosts his totals on the season to 3 goals, 8 assists, 11 points in 8 games. The 1995 birth-year forward has played previously in the Central Canada Hockey League and the Ontario Jr. Hockey League.
Savard, with his 28 saves, was making his first start of the season for Rayside-Balfour. He made one appearance for the Niagara Ice Dogs of the Ontario Hockey League during the 2014-2015 season.
