Rugged road trip awaits Eagles
Fresh from a 9-5 road decision over the Blind River Beavers on Wednesday, the Soo Eagles continue a highway excursion with three more away games this weekend.
The Eagles, who are in fourth place in the West Division of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League with a record of 9-14-1, play at Cochrane on Friday, at Kirkland Lake on Saturday and at Timmins on Sunday.
All three East Division teams have winning records — the Crunch is 21-4-3, the Gold Miners are 16-7-3 and the Rock is solid at 15-10-1.
“It’s as tough a road trip as there is in the NOJHL,” Eagles coach-general manager Bruno Bragagnolo understated.
Two players had big four-point outings in the Eagles win at Blind River on Wednesday.
1995 birth-year forward Reed Gregory had four goals, giving him seven in seven games since joining the Eagles in a trade with the Iroquois Falls Eskis. And 1997 birth-year defenceman Zack Parrott, playing in only his fourth game with the Eagles, had four assists.
