A grandson of legendary National Hockey League superstar Reggie Leach has signed with the Espanola Paper Kings of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League, Hockey News North has learned.

Hunter Sellers, a hulking winger with dual Canadian-American citizenship, is fresh from an impressive season with the Okanagan Under 18 prep program in which he tallied 18 goals, 15 assists, 33 points in 36 games while racking up 80 minutes in penalties.

Sellers, who has a 2005 birth date, heads to a small market NOJHL team in Espanola that is fresh from a winning season in 2022-2023 and is well run and reputable under president and head coach Jason Rapcewicz and general manager Marc Gagnon.

As the grandson of the aforementioned NHL legend Reggie Leach, Sellers not only has hockey roots but he has forged his own reputation as an up and coming junior A hockey prospect who possesses skill and speed. He is positioned to play for an NOJHL team in Espanola that is gaining in reputation.

With the previously mentioned Jason Rapcewicz as the president and head coach and Marc Gagnon as the GM already in place, the Paper Kings further strengthened their hockey department earlier this summer with the hiring of Bill Vanderleest as goalie coach. The ageless, venerable Vanderleest heads to Espanola after 11 seasons as the goalie coach with the NOJHL’s Soo Eagles.

Player wise, the Paper Kings have several holdover standouts poised to return to Espanola for the 2023-2024 NOJHL season including scoring machine forward Lucas Signoretti, defenseman Liam McDonald and goalie Jake Marois.
