Showdown at the Mac
It has the makings of a stare down, a match between arch-rival teams who have first place aspirations on the East side of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League.
Venerable McIntyre Arena will house a race for first place showdown on Friday at 7:30 p.m. when the Timmins Rock plays host to the Hearst Lumberjacks.
Timmins holds down top spot in the NOJHL’s East Division with 21 points from a record of 10-1-1. Barely to be outdone, Hearst is right there with 19 points from a record of 9-2-1.
Not only are the two teams among the East elite but in a league known for attracting good coaches, both Timmins and Hearst have good, young, up and coming bench bosses. 32-year old Brandon Perry calls the shots for the Rock and 30-year old Marc-Alain Begin is the main man for the Lumberjacks.
