Want to play in Smooth Rock Falls?
Under the direction of coach Richard Solomon, general manager Cory Hofferd et al, the Smooth Rock Falls Thunder of the Thunder Bay Jr. B. Hockey League has set the dates for its first-ever tryout camp.
Jody Biedermann, who will serve as a Moose Factory-based scout for the new Smooth Rock Falls entry, advises that the Thunder will holds its initial tryout camp on September 1 and 3 at the Tim Horton Event Centre in Cochrane.
Tryout times are 8:30-10 p.m. both days and are open to players born in 1995, 1996 and 1997.
The Smooth Rock Falls team is owned by Ryan Leonard, who also owns, manages and coaches the Cochrane Crunch of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League.
Smooth Rock Falls will serve as an affiliate team for Cochrane.

Of note, Biedermann is a former NOJHLer from his time as a hard-nosed left winger with the erstwhile Manitoulin Islanders during the 2005-2006 season. Current Elliot Lake Wildcats general manager Todd Stencill was Manitoulin’s coach at the time.
As for the aforementioned Solomon and Hofferd, they both have considerable hockey backgrounds.
Besides having coaching experience, both are veteran northeastern Ontario referees.
We have to give credit to Ryan Leonard for all the work he is doing in Cochrane .He is a real go getter. Good luck Ryan.
