Soo Eagles captain off to school
Evan Ketner will pass on his final season of junior hockey to play at the Division 3, National Collegiate Athletic Association level this fall, HockeyNewsNorth.com has learned.
A 1996 birth-year forward, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound Ketner produced 21 goals, 21 assists, 42 points in 58 games — regular season and playoffs included — for the Soo Eagles of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League in 2015-2016.
Ketner, who was the Eagles captain, will move on from the Michigan Soo and the NOJHL to play for the Lawrence University Vikings in 2016-2017. Lawrence is based in Appleton, Wisconsin.
Eagles co-coach/general manager Bruno Bragagnolo called Ketner “a character kid who represented the Soo Eagles well both on and off the ice.
“The fact that Lawrence wants him as a 19-year old who has another year of junior hockey left says a lot about Evan’s ability and skill level,” Bragagnolo told HockeyNewsNorth.com.
So happy for the kid tho I would of loved to see him back. Good Luck Evan!!!
Palmario , Powers or Hellmuth or should wear the “C” now.
I do not know the other 2 lads but I do no Jake Palmerio and he will lead by example as Captain of the Soo Eagles. GREAT KID! They do not come any better than Jake. Bruno know’s who a Leader is when he see’s one so Bruno will do the rite thing I am sure.
Good player + Good kid … Evan Kentner.
He competes hard and he has the trust of his Team. This is good I say for this young man a gain for Lawrence where Reid Gregory also goes
