Soo Eagles secure 3rd spot
Third place in the West Division of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League is what it will be for the surging Soo Eagles.
A below .500 team for a good portion of the 2018-2019 season, the Eagles improved their record to 28-23-4 tonight with a 6-0 blanking of the Elliot Lake Wildcats.
The road decision for the third-seeded Eagles ensures that they will face off against the second-place Rayside Balfour Canadians in the looming West Division semi-final playoffs.
As for fifth-place Elliot Lake, the Wildcats will meet the nearby, fourth-ranked, Blind River Beavers in a best-of-three, preliminary-round playoff series.
The winner of the Blind River v. Elliot Lake set will eventually play the top-seeded Soo Thunderbirds in the other best-of-seven, West Division semi-final series.
The NOJHL regular-season schedule ends this week.
