Soo Eagles sign 3 goalies
Soo Eagles of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League have settled on a trio of American born goalies ahead of the looming 2023-2024 season, Hockey News North has confirmed.
Eagles general manager Bruno Bragagnolo acknowledged the signing of Marino Ramirez, Anthony Zolezzi and Michael Shelley. Ramirez has a 2003 birth date, Zolezzi was born in 2004 and Shelley is the youngest with a 2005 birth year.
Ramirez played with the New Jersey Titans of the North American Hockey League in 2022-2023 while Zolezzi is from the Minnesota state high school ranks and Shelley has experience at the USA Hockey Tier 1 Elite level.
With the signing of the three, the Eagles dealt 2003 birth year net minder Jack Orchard to the Fort Frances Lakers of the Superior International Jr. Hockey League. Orchard had been obtained by the Eagles from the Kam River Fighting Walleye of the SIJHL earlier this summer.
