Soo Thunderbirds and Kirkland Lake Gold Miners have both taken two-games-to-none leads in their second-round, best-of-seven, Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League playoff series.
Playing at home on the weekend, the top-seeded T-Birds scored 5-4 and 4-1 wins over fourth-ranked Abitibi Eskimos.
The series now shifts to Iroquois Falls for games 3 and 4 this week.
Second-seeded Kirkland Lake, meanwhile, eked out a pair of 2-1 wins over third-ranked Espanola Rivermen.
Game 3 is slated for Kirkland Lake.
